The True Value of Philosophy in Life…

Honestly loved this post. 👌

JamesRadcliffe.com

For a lot of people, ‘Philosophy’ is a dirty word; conjuring feelings of boredom, images of dry dusty books, and memories of long forgotten classrooms.  It is a term that a lot of people file in the: ‘not useful’ and/or ‘not interesting’ section of their minds.

This is potentially, one of the gravest, and most dangerous of errors…

Why on earth would I say this?  And how could knowing anything about philosophy improve, not only your life, but also your experience of it?

These are some Good Questions.  To answer them, let me talk to you about…

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams

They say that if you don’t have dreams, you have nothing to live for; similarly to the quote “If you don’t imagine, nothing will ever happen at all.”

We all have dreams, and if you say you don’t, you are either in denial or life has gotten the best of you. We all want to become something worth remembering-, be that person who help others-, who makes a difference in others lives. Am I wrong for assuming that?

Unfortunately, life does get the better of us. We get into the routine of it: get a job, work nine to five, get home, do the laundry, cook, go to bed- and the next day: the same shit all over again. That’s life; or shall I rather say, how we perceive life to be- then again, our lives are what we make of it, but yet, it isn’t easy. Let’s face it, it isn’t that easy, quickly hopping on a plane and going to your dream destination, because you feel like it (sure we’d love it, and some people are actually fortunate enough to be able to do that); you have to plan, you need financial stability to be able to go on adventures like that, but just because you need to actually plan to follow your dreams or goals, doesn’t mean you should give up on it.

“Opportunity is missed by people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” – Thomas Edison

Don’t be that person who turns their back to opportunities, because it will actually mean that you will have to get off your ass to do it.

You owe it to yourself, to make yourself proud; to be everything you have ever imagined. Your life is a story, so make sure it is inspiring; you have the full potential on becoming who and what you want to be- it is never too late.

Following your dreams actually requires that you take action and start somewhere, and that somewhere will be the bottom (reality check), but you should allow yourself to be a beginner, everyone started there- even the person you admire. You have your whole life to work yourself up to who and what you want to be- in contrast, life is short though, that’s why you need to start now! Nothing and no one can stand in your way of following your dreams.

Here’s an inspiring quote to get you started.

“Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try”
